Re: Spouse joined the military against my will.
Ouch that sounds like a really tough one. First question, how much is she in the childrens lives and is she now, even after joining the military? Does she call and have things to do with the children....another thing unless she gives you full custody, you may have a hard time with that on the information I have read. She would have to be concidered unfit.....etc......spousal support here is another issue....I will look up some more information....the next thing is if you want a divorce, you get it, tell your lawyer everything and get everything in the works..but remember she will have a side to her story also, and she is serving in the military.

Re: Spouse joined the military against my will.
If my wife had a big role in my children's lives, I would think she wouldn't have joined the military. It's hard to say. She rarely took them anywhere, not even to the store. They were a burden unless I was there also. Now I have to do it all myself which is fine with me. She has not been in the military long. She has written and called. She did agree with me that the childeren should stay where we made a home for them, but she doesn't want me to take them from her meaning full custody. I do want my children to have relationships with both parents, but I am afraid that if I don't get full custody she will get it and take them from me. Is it equally hard for my wife to obtain full custody as well?

Re: Spouse joined the military against my will.
If you both are fitparents, it should work fine for a split custody, where both parents can be in the childrens lives, and honestly better for them.....now I will say this and I have said it a billion times before in my blogs, if you have read any. I always think its important for any family in a divorce with children,to get some sort of therapy..counceling, sometimes children tend to look at divorce as their fault....and with anything counceling can help ALL FAMILIES, in a divorce, stronger and work better together after the divorce....It helps....I would do that. There are free counceling services around, make a call.
On another note, if at allpossible, in the divorce papers, have that either can not move from the area with the children. You may also be able to do the custody, where she is stationed for the military that the children are to stay with you....try your best to work with her....and report back to me, let me know how its going!
