Update, Alimony...Arizona.
Now getting back into some divorce information for Arizona, i thought I would hit on alimony after a divorce in Arizona today. A lot of states in divorce just do alimony for the wife in the divorce, but in Arizona, alimony after a divorce can be awarded to either spouse. In special cases in some states, alimony after a divorce has been awarded to the husband, but Arizona really takes a look at both sides in the divorce. In Arizona alimony is referred to as a spousal maintenance in a divorce. It is for the care of a spouse after the divorce is final, usually until a spouse can get back on their feet, but can be awarded even longer, depending on all the things the divorce courts take into consideration in the divorce. They look at several things in the divorce, to see if alimony will be awarded after the divorce, and for how long. So lets take a look at what the divorce courts look at when deciding wither alimony will be paid after the divorce. Remember a temporary alimony while the divorce process is going on can be done.
1. If after the divorce, will a spouse lack the sufficient property to take care of oneself?
2. They take a look and see if a spouse can support themselves with all they have bill wise and life wise after a divorce, with what they make in the work force.
3. If after the divorce, a spouse lacks what is called the earning ability in work to support themselves, and also alimony after the divorce can towards education for a spouse to find better employment, for the future.
4. They also take a look at how long the marriage was, and if one of the spouses did not work or continue education to be able to support themselves, then alimony can be paid, even for a long amount of time also depending on the age of the spouse.
5. They take a look at the standard of living before the divorce, and how the spouses lived in their marriage, this also affects alimony being paid in a divorce.
6. The total length of the marriage, and ages of the spouses in the divorce.
Arizona also gives the leeway of the spouses coming to a decision of their own, on how much and for how long alimony after a divorce will be paid, if they can come to a decision where both agree, if not then the divorce courts will pick up and decide.
