Child Support and the Economy.
I actually got asked this question from my brother last night, and it made me think about a lot of people going through child support issues right now. The unfortunate thing here is that him and his ex spouse do not get along, even though he try's extremely hard for it to. He has always paid child support on time and in moments given extra, where she seems to be one of those that does not appreciate, and recently before the downfall of the economy had taken him back to court to get a higher child support, even though he was paying more since he had got extra hours at work. With all this being said maybe she is just upset the children are about 18 and she really has never used the child support on them, which has made him upset.
Now lets get off the beaten path here for just a moment on child support, one of the things I think are important is that parents GET ALONG, its not only important for you but for the children, even if its hard, its just the grown up thing to do, plus holding pain over a divorce or a separation is never good, why I always suggest counseling, kind of funny that my brothers wife left him and still is mean to him, and honestly there is no since in that. You want your children to grow up and be strong people, and getting along with your ex spouse is important.
So now my brother has been cut way back at work and can not afford the child support he is paying, it desperately hurts his life. Of course I told him to go see the lawyer that recently handled the child support case and well he is going to have to get it lowered, I told him under no circumstances make a verbal agreement to pay less, cause in the end she will come back and bite and say he owes this. so this does come back to anything dealing with child support or divorce make sure that everything is done in writing and take it through a lawyer. And people go easy on each other, our world needs more compassion....one of the reasons I will say it again, this site is here, it allows a soft place to fall and ask questions or just vent!
