California Child Support.

Child support for California is based on several different things on how much the non custodial parent pays.  Each one is looked into and then a fair amount is set.  Child support is for the care of your children, if you were married, you would take care of your children, a lot of parents forget that and think it is a ploy for another parent to receive income.  Child support should always be used for the children’s needs and a non custodial parent if finds out otherwise can take a custodial parent back to court.  Here are the three things that are looked into in California’s child support payments.
  1. How much is the income of *both* parents, if the custodial makes way more then the non custodial that is factored in as vise versa to this issue, and how much the non custodial parent will pay for child support.  Even if paying child support a parent should never be put into financial jeopardy, remember the child or children will also be spending time with that parent, there should be no issues with one parent being left in a financial jeopardy.
  2. How many children are being cared for through this child support, and does the non custodial pay child support on any other children from past relationships?
  3. How much time the children spend with each parent also determines how much child support will be paid.
In some cases the courts will set up that a portion of the child support in California, should be set aside in a trust or fund for future use, it is also important to remember that your child may want schooling later on.  Parents can also add to the trust or the funds at anytime does not always have to be the child support that is set aside. As in most states, child support can be modified if there has been a major change in either of the parents or the children’s lives. Child support can be modified at any time in California if any of these issues come about.
  1. If either parent gets a decrease or an increase in their income.   This can be for the custodial or non custodial, in how much the child support will be changed.
  2. If the child decides he or she wants to spend more time with either of the parents, again this can allow for a child support modification.
  3. If at anytime the child’s needs change, due to special financial needs, schooling, and medical, child support will be modiied to help with these certain needs.
