Child Support Washington.

Child support in Washington is set on certain guidelines. Child support is based upon how much each parent makes and their assets.  Those are both looked into when setting how much child support will be paid in.  Now if neither parent is working, the courts that are setting up the child support will look at past work records and information or imputed income, which is what a person of a certain age and gender would be making.  Child support will be set up to be paid, so finding employment is necessary, the child support is set up on certain guidelines by every court. In Washington there are worksheets that each parent must fill out, they must show all income and how much they make and from all other resources. The child support court will then look over both worksheets of each parent, and then base by looking at them how much child support is to be paid.  If the custodial parent makes more then the non custodial, then less child support will be paid and vise versa.  Child support is not necessarily in Washington is not always gone by how much you make.  Remember child support is for the care of your child. While discussing child support in Washington, remember that the child support can not go over 45% of what the parent’s income is.  Speaking of which child support can not put one parent in any financial jeopardy, so there is what is called a need standard, for a parent to be able to live on, which in Washington is around 800$ per month, unless where your living is going to cost more to live, the child support courts do look at that, you will have child care expenses also. Child support in Washington can be done through wage withholding, especially if the parent is causing any kind of a fight to paying the child support.  It can also be taken out without being behind, and some parents choose to do it that way, more convenient.  Past child support for parents who have not been paying can also be taken out through wage withholding. Child support can be modified also at any time if there have been any changes in.
  1. Either parent’s income increase or decrease.
  2. The children spending more time with one parent, or deciding to live more with another.
  3. If the child needs any special financial, medical or schooling expenses.
Now if the parents agree on a certain amount to be paid between each other, then the courts will also do this when writing up the child support order.  It is when the parent’s can not come to an agreement, that it does go to court and the courts decide the amount of child support to be paid.
