Ohio Child Support.
Child support in Ohio is a bit different from other states, although most states have the same rules for child support, each state falls somewhat different.
In Ohio the child support to be paid is determined on both parents income, say the custodial makes much more then the non custodial parent, the non custodial parent of course does not pay as much child support unless they have the higher paying job.
The amount of child support to be paid also determines how many children there is.
Now child support falls a bit different and you can sometimes get a government aid, if the income falls under $6,600 and in some cases child support can be higher if the parents are making $150,000.
Now that is for a combined income together, not one parent only making that much.
Child support is for the care of your children.
I like to remind people especially if they were married before, then they took care of their children, what is the fuss about paying money to keep your children healthy and happy.
Child support will be issued by the courts and an order for child support will go out to the parent, now here is where child support falls a bit different also in Ohio, most the time the non custodial parent will pay in payments, when either they get their pay or however the family has set up the child support to be paid, in Ohio the child support goes right to the non custodial parents employer and the child support is taken right out of the parents pay weekly, and then sent into the child support bureau, from there it is then mailed to the custodial parent.
So what do they do if the parent is self employed?
Then they courts will issue him to pay what is called a cash bond with the courts for child support.
In Ohio also for child support they courts may hold a part of the parents compensation benefits even retirement to make sure that child support is being paid.
In Ohio like most states child support can be modified at anytime, if there are changes to the parents or the children’s life.
Medical reasons with parent or child can be a modification along with loss or gain of income.
Remember with child support as with any sate that you are doing this for your child, not your ex, I understand some non custodial parents worry that the income is going towards the parent and not the children.
It is also important to watch for that in some cases, if you find the custodial parent not being fit.
